TOLEDO, Ohio – Students returning to campus this fall have likely noticed construction activity inside the Student Union and along Stadium Drive near the Student Recreation Center. While the projects serve different purposes, university officials say both are designed to improve campus facilities and support future student needs. #utcollegian #utrockets #utoledorockets #utconstruction

On September 11th, 2001, hijackers flew commercial planes into the World Trade Center in New York City as well as the Pentagon in Virginia.

This event brought devastation throughout the country and has had lasting effects on America.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks, and the impact is still felt to this day.

While many UToledo students can't remember the attacks, they can remember learning about them in school. Despite this, the remembrance of today still remains prevalent.

The University of Toledo has chosen to commemorate the lives lost in 2001 right here on campus. From athletics to academics to student organizations, the stories of the attacks are being told in many ways.

The Young America's Foundation has set up a memorial in Centennial Mall with 2,977 flags, each representing a life lost.

Rob Candy, a representative of the Foundation, says the goal of this memorial is to remind students of what occurred that day. These memorials can be found on campuses nationwide.

At the Carlson Library, a display of books has been set out to share the many stories of the day's events. Library staff encourage you to take these books and learn of the history and the impact that 9/11 had on America.

While many students don't have memories of September 11th, 2001, it remains true that no one has forgotten this day, the tragedy of the many lives lost, and the bravery of thousands of first responders who were involved in the aftermath of the attacks.
